Landbank Announces Sustainable Bond Issuance Plan

Landbank Announces Sustainable Bond Issuance Plan

Land Bank of the Philippines plans to raise a minimum of P5 billion through a sustainability‑focused peso bond slated for issuance early next year.

Chief Executive Officer Lynette V. Ortiz indicated that the bank is preparing to launch another sustainability bond, emphasizing a minimum size of P5 billion while leaving the exact amount open.

Ortiz added that the lender will monitor market conditions and remain receptive to opportunities, noting that a P200 billion bond program is available for future issuances.

The timing of the bond will depend on the broader macro‑economic environment and investor sentiment, with the bank expecting to proceed in early 2027 rather than later this year.

In February, Land Bank tapped the domestic debt market, raising P50 billion through dual‑tenor Agriculture, Sustainability, Environment, and Socioeconomic Development (ASENSO) bonds, surpassing its original P30 billion target.

The 1.5‑year Series B tranche was priced at 5.1714% per annum, while the three‑year Series C papers carried a rate of 5.5615% per annum.

The ASENSO issuance marked the first corporate bond in the country offered for direct purchase via the bank’s mobile banking application.

Land Bank reported a 10.26% year‑on‑year decline in first‑quarter net income, which fell to P12.05 billion.
