Nancy Mace announced that she will not seek the Senate seat opened by the death of Senator Lindsey Graham, choosing instead to complete her current term in the House of Representatives.
She said the decision allows her to focus on unfinished legislative work, including efforts to strengthen laws protecting women and to secure the release of files connected to the Jeffrey Epstein case.
In a video statement, Mace stressed that she is “chasing justice, not another title,” and pledged to continue fighting for accountability for women and girls who have been silenced.
The lawmaker expressed gratitude to her constituents, reaffirming her commitment to represent South Carolina’s values and to speak out on issues she deems critical.
The Republican primary for the vacant Senate seat is set for August 11. Declared or prospective candidates include Representatives Ralph Norman and Russell Fry, Darline Nordone Graham—who was appointed to finish the current term—and businessman Mark Lynch.
Mace had earlier hinted at a possible Senate run after her unsuccessful bid for governor, during which she relinquished her House seat to pursue the statewide campaign.
