A chilling accusation has surfaced against boxing star Gervonta Davis, just weeks before his highly anticipated fight with Jake Paul. An ex-girlfriend has filed a civil lawsuit alleging battery, false imprisonment, and kidnapping, painting a disturbing picture of alleged abuse.
Courtney Rossel claims Davis attacked her at the Miami nightclub where she works. The lawsuit details a terrifying scene: Davis allegedly stormed into Tootsies, forcibly dragging Rossel through a stairwell and out a back exit before assaulting her in the parking lot.
The complaint alleges a brutal attack, describing Davis grabbing, choking, pushing, pulling, and striking Rossel on the head. This wasn’t an isolated incident, according to Rossel, who claims a five-month relationship was marred by repeated violence and threats.

Rossel alleges at least four prior incidents of physical assault and choking, with Davis reportedly threatening to kill her on two separate occasions. The lawsuit seeks both compensatory and punitive damages, demanding a jury trial to address the alleged harm.
This isn’t the first time Davis has faced accusations of domestic violence. In 2020, video footage surfaced showing him forcibly removing the mother of his child from a basketball game by her neck, leading to charges of domestic battery.
Further legal troubles followed in 2022 with another domestic violence arrest. He then served 44 days in jail in 2023 for violating the terms of a house arrest related to a criminal hit-and-run case. A recent arrest on misdemeanor domestic violence charges in July was dropped when the alleged victim declined to prosecute.

Despite this history, Davis remains undefeated in 31 fights. He is scheduled to face Jake Paul in a bout streamed live on Netflix, a contest that won’t impact either fighter’s professional record due to its exhibition rules.
The physical disparity between the two fighters is already a talking point. Paul stands at 6’1” and typically fights at 200lbs, while Davis is a 5’5” lightweight champion, competing at between 130 and 135lbs. The upcoming fight now takes place against a backdrop of serious and disturbing allegations.
The timing of this lawsuit, so close to the Paul fight, raises questions and adds another layer of complexity to an already highly anticipated event. The legal proceedings will undoubtedly unfold as the boxing world watches.
