Ruth Jones: Traitors RECRUITMENT WAR Begins!

The rumour mill is churning with speculation about the next series ofThe Celebrity Traitors, and a beloved comedy icon is reportedly on the BBC’s wish list. Ruth Jones, the woman who gifted us the unforgettable Nessa fromGavin & Stacey, is said to be a prime target for the hit game show.

Jones, a national treasure after nearly two decades of captivating audiences, has become synonymous with sharp wit and endearing characters. BeyondGavin & Stacey, which she co-wrote with James Corden, she’s consistently delivered memorable performances and proven her talent as a writer and creator.

While the BBC hasn’t officially confirmed a second celebrity season – the first series captivated viewers with its dramatic twists and turns – the show’s phenomenal ratings make a return almost inevitable. Insiders suggest the network is already quietly reaching out to high-profile stars, and Jones is near the top of that list.

According to reports, securing a cast as impressive as the first series is paramount. Sir Stephen Fry, Celia Imrie, and Olympian Tom Daley were among those who previously navigated the treacherous game, and the BBC aims to maintain that level of star power.

However, Jones is said to have a single, intriguing condition for her participation: she wants to be a Faithful. The idea of Nessa, known for her sly observations and unique vernacular, wholeheartedly trusting others adds a fascinating layer to the potential dynamic.

Jones isn’t short on projects, currently collaborating with James Corden on a new eight-part comedy series for AppleTV titledThe Choir. The pair’s previous success withGavin & Stacey, built on clever writing and relatable humor, has generated significant anticipation for their latest venture.

Their creative partnership continues to thrive, even as Corden balances projects on both sides of the Atlantic, recently appearing on Broadway in a revival of the playART. The possibility of Corden also receiving a call forThe Celebrity Traitorsisn’t out of the question.

The first season of the celebrity edition proved a compelling watch, pitting Faithfuls against Traitors in a battle of deception and deduction. Jonathan Ross, Alan Carr, and Cat Burns were revealed as the initial Traitors, skillfully navigating the game until a dramatic shift in alliances.

As the current season nears its conclusion, the remaining Traitors face increasing scrutiny. The question remains: can they successfully deceive their fellow players and abscond with the prize, or will their schemes be exposed before it’s too late?
