A chilling sequence of events unfolded in Charlotte, North Carolina, culminating in a man’s release despite a disturbing history and recent, violent accusations. Trivius Crouch, 23, is once again free, having been implicated in a brazen attack involving a firearm and a baseball bat.
The incident, documented in court records, centers around a family dispute. In July, Crouch allegedly confronted the mother of his child while she was seated in a vehicle, escalating into a physical altercation when the woman’s mother intervened to protect her daughter.
The struggle quickly turned dangerous. As the fight moved to the front yard, Crouch’s handgun reportedly fell from his waistband. He allegedly retrieved the weapon and fired two shots into the air, then one towards the ground near the victim, a terrifying display of escalating aggression.
Undeterred, Crouch then allegedly sought out a baseball bat from his vehicle. He used it to vandalize the family’s Mercedes SUV before turning the weapon on the victim, striking her repeatedly in the head, arm, and legs.
According to the victim’s statement to police, she desperately attempted to evade the assault, moving constantly until Crouch abruptly fled the scene. The entire ordeal left her injured and shaken.
This alleged attack wasn’t an isolated incident. Court records reveal this was Crouch’s ninth arrest in Mecklenburg County. Just one day before his bond was doubled in the assault case, he faced new charges related to drug and weapon possession.
On October 29th, Crouch was arrested for felony marijuana possession with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, and carrying a concealed weapon. Despite being in custody for these offenses, his bond in the assault case was increased to $20,000 – and he was subsequently released.
This wasn’t the first time Crouch had been released pending trial in this case. He was initially arrested in July for the assault, but released on a $10,000 bond. A pattern of arrests and releases is clearly visible in his record.
