A chilling plot to unleash violence on American soil was dismantled just before Halloween, with authorities arresting seven individuals linked to ISIS. The initial raid, conducted in Dearborn, Michigan – a city with a significant Muslim population – targeted five suspects, including young men barely out of their teens.
The investigation quickly expanded beyond Michigan, revealing a network of individuals allegedly preparing a coordinated attack. Attorney General Pamela Bondi revealed the unsealed complaint detailed a “major ISIS-linked terror plot” aimed directly at the United States, a threat averted through swift and decisive action.
Evidence seized during the raids painted a disturbing picture: multiple AR-15 rifles, a cache of tactical gear, and meticulously crafted plans for carrying out an assault. The suspects weren’t simply contemplating violence; they were actively preparing for it, fueled by extremist ideology.
Among those initially named in the criminal complaint were Mohmed Ali, 20, and Majed Mahmoud, both facing charges related to the illegal transfer of firearms with the intent to support terrorism. They allegedly conspired to arm themselves for a devastating act.
The investigation then stretched to New Jersey, leading to the arrests of Milo Sedarat and Tomas Kaan Guzel in Montclair. Sedarat, the son of an award-winning poet, and Guzel, a 19-year-old, were taken into custody following a joint operation by the NYPD and the FBI.
Law enforcement sources indicate the possibility of additional accomplices still at large, suggesting the network may have been wider than initially believed. The arrests in New Jersey represent a significant escalation in the scope of the investigation.
Both Sedarat and Guzel were scheduled to appear in federal court in Newark, New Jersey, to face charges related to the alleged terror plot. Authorities are continuing to pursue all leads, determined to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy and ensure the safety of the public.
The swift intervention of federal and local law enforcement prevented what could have been a horrific tragedy. The case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat of extremism and the dedication required to protect national security.
