Could insurance rates rise? Could coverage be denied?
The same data streams designed to empower you can be exploited for insurance profiling, targeted advertising, or even employment decisions. Strict data-sharing policies are crucial, but often overlooked.
The first step towards understanding the risks is confronting the fine print. Julia Zhen, an information security risk manager, advises starting with an app’s privacy policy. She recommends searching for keywords like “sell” or “share” to quickly assess how your data is handled.
