A shadow of concern has fallen over owners of an older Peloton model. Two years after a recall involving the classic Bike, the company is now addressing a safety issue with the seats on its Bike+ – but not the recently released Cross Training Bike+.
This isn’t a blanket issue; it specifically affects Bike+ models manufactured between December 2019 and July 2022, sold in both the United States and Canada. The key to determining if your Bike+ is impacted lies in a model number: PL02. Check the label located inside or behind the front fork, or behind the flywheel.
The core of the problem, mirroring the previous recall, centers around the seat post. Peloton has determined that it can potentially break during use, creating a dangerous situation and posing a risk of falls and injuries to riders.
While the previous recall involved reports of at least eleven injuries, this situation appears less severe, at least so far. Peloton has received three reports of seat breakage across approximately 833,000 units in the U.S. Thankfully, no reports have surfaced from the nearly 45,000 units sold in Canada.
The good news is that replacements are being offered free of charge to all qualifying Bike+ owners. Protecting your safety is paramount, and securing a replacement seat is a simple process.
To initiate the replacement, owners should contact Peloton directly. A dedicated support line is available at (833) 821-0099 to guide you through the process and ensure a swift resolution.
