Calgary landlord facing voyeurism may have worked in care facility

A landlord has been charged with installing hidden cameras in rental properties across Calgary, Toronto, and Vancouver, targeting women of Korean descent. The allegations involve the covert placement of surveillance devices in private spaces such as bathrooms and bedrooms.

The charges stem from a June 8 incident in which a tenant discovered a hidden camera on a surge protector in the bathroom and another on a smoke detector in the bedroom. The tenant alerted other residents, who reported similar devices in their own rooms.

Police executed search warrants on June 12 at two rental properties, seizing multiple electronic storage devices believed to be used for surveillance. The devices were located at addresses in the 200 block of Springborough Way and the 3800 block of Brentwood Road.

The accused, Sooryong Park, 41, also known as Nick Park, faces one count of break and enter and five counts of voyeurism. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 7.

Police continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information about these or similar incidents to contact the police by calling 403-266-1234. Anonymous tips may also be submitted to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477.
