A specialized division of the renowned Hendrick Motorsports, a team steeped in NASCAR history with fifteen Cup Series championships, recently finalized a significant agreement. The deal involved the delivery of over two dozen Chevrolet vehicles to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Hendrick Motorsports Technical Solutions, the advanced manufacturing branch of the racing giant, underwent a substantial expansion earlier this year. A newly constructed 160,000-square-foot facility, operating as an independent entity on the Hendrick Motorsports campus in North Carolina, signaled a strategic shift towards broader manufacturing capabilities.
The $1.5 million contract, secured in October, highlighted Hendrick Motorsports’ unique ability to meet ICE’s immediate needs. The agency specifically cited the company’s confirmed vehicle availability as a decisive factor in awarding the agreement.
Initially authorized at $2.25 million, the final contract amount was adjusted downwards. The funds were allocated to procure 25 Chevrolet Tahoe SUVs, intended to bolster Department of Homeland Security’s Title 8 operations. These vehicles are designed to support anticipated staffing increases between fiscal years 2026 and 2029.
While Hendrick Motorsports declined to comment directly, a spokesperson for Hendrick Motorsports Technical Solutions confirmed the vehicles were delivered unmodified and the transaction was completed successfully. The sale was conducted as a straightforward transaction, fulfilling the agency’s requirements.
The contract was awarded without competitive bidding, a process justified by an “urgent and compelling need” for the vehicles. Hendrick Motorsports was the only entity able to guarantee immediate fulfillment of the entire order, prompting the non-competitive procurement.
Established in 2019, Hendrick Motorsports Technical Solutions has rapidly expanded its partnerships beyond the racing world. The division has already secured contracts with major players, including General Motors’ military-focused operations.
Marshall Carlson, President of Hendrick Companies, emphasized the long-term vision of team founder Rick Hendrick. He stated that Hendrick envisioned the technical solutions arm as a leader in advanced manufacturing, capable of serving clients with exceptionally demanding specifications.
The success of Hendrick Motorsports extends far beyond its manufacturing capabilities. Just recently, driver Kyle Larson secured the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series championship in a thrilling race at Phoenix, narrowly defeating veteran Denny Hamlin.
Adding to the team’s accolades, Chase Elliott was once again crowned NASCAR’s most popular driver for 2025, commanding the support of a remarkable 56% of fans. Elliott previously claimed the Cup Series championship in 2020.
The foundation of Hendrick Motorsports’ championship legacy was built by Jeff Gordon, who secured four Cup Series titles in 1995, 1997, 1998, and 2001. His early successes established the team as a dominant force in NASCAR.
Today, Hendrick Motorsports continues to field a formidable lineup of drivers, including Alex Bowman and William Byron, further solidifying its position as a powerhouse in the world of motorsports. Their continued success reflects a commitment to innovation and performance.
