Rupert Grint Crowns the NEXT Ron Weasley—You Won't Believe What He Said!

Rupert Grint, forever linked to the character of Ron Weasley, recently extended a warm gesture to the actor taking on the role in the new HBO series. As the Christmas lights twinkled in North London, Grint reflected on a decade spent embodying the beloved wizard, a journey that began when he was just eleven years old alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson.

The original trio captivated the world as Hogwarts’ most memorable students, and now a new generation is stepping into those iconic roles. Alastair Stout will portray Ron, joining Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter. Grint, echoing Daniel Radcliffe’s sentiment, penned a letter to Stout, offering encouragement as he embarks on this new adventure.

“It was really just wishing him all the best with it,” Grint shared. “I had so much fun stepping into this world, and I hope he has the same experience.” He expressed excitement for the HBO series, believing it will forge its own unique identity, distinct from the original films.

Despite the enduring association with Ron Weasley, Grint embraces the legacy. He acknowledges the character’s profound meaning for both his generation and those discovering the wizarding world anew. “It gives me a lot of pride,” he said, admitting he doesn’t anticipate ever fully escaping Ron’s shadow – and he’s perfectly content with that.

The new series boasts a stellar cast, including John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore and Warwick Davies reprising his role as Professor Flitwick. Paapa Essiedu will take on the complex character of Severus Snape, alongside Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. Production is well underway, with the first installment anticipated in 2027.

While Tom Felton has revisited his role as Draco Malfoy on Broadway, Grint remains open to the possibility of returning to the Harry Potter universe, stating “never say never.” For now, he’s enjoying exploring new creative avenues, having taken on roles in series like *Servant* and films like *Knock at the Cabin*.

Grint, along with Radcliffe and Watson, previously voiced support for the trans community in 2020, distancing themselves from the views of J.K. Rowling. He declined to comment on the ongoing controversy surrounding the author, but his earlier statement – “Trans women are women. Trans men are men. We should all be entitled to live with love and without judgment” – remains a powerful declaration.

The weight of the Harry Potter legacy is undeniable, and Grint carries it with grace. He understands the profound impact the stories have had on millions, and he’s proud to have been a part of that magic. It’s a role he cherishes, a world he helped build, and a connection he knows will endure.
