TRUMP SABOTAGES PEACE: Ukraine Deal on the BRINK!

A fragile hope for peace flickered in Geneva as discussions progressed, yet the shadow of past grievances loomed large. Former President Donald Trump ignited a firestorm, publicly lamenting a perceived lack of gratitude from Ukraine despite his asserted efforts to broker an end to the devastating conflict.

Trump, in a post on his social media platform, accused Ukraine’s “leadership” of “zero gratitude,” even as negotiators explored a 28-point peace plan backed by the United States. He framed the war as a needless tragedy, a “loser for everyone,” and pointed fingers at the current administration, claiming the invasion unfolded under their watch.

Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, swiftly responded, expressing gratitude to the United States and, specifically, to Trump himself for crucial aid, including Javelin missiles that have been instrumental in defending Ukrainian lives. He emphasized the importance of sustained support and a resolute focus on preventing future Russian aggression.

The proposed peace plan, however, has sparked intense scrutiny and suspicion. Leaked details reveal concessions to Russia that Zelensky has repeatedly rejected, including acknowledging Russian control over significant territories. Concerns arose that the plan may have originated from the Kremlin itself, a claim vehemently denied by US officials.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the initial talks as remarkably productive, highlighting “tremendous progress” but acknowledging remaining hurdles. He stressed the necessity of Russian buy-in, stating bluntly that any agreement would be futile without their consent. Trump has publicly demanded Ukraine accept the plan within the week.

While diplomats navigate the complexities of negotiation, the brutal reality of war continues to unfold. A recent Russian strike in the Ternopil region claimed the lives of 34 people, with several still missing, a stark reminder of the human cost of the conflict. The true death toll, estimated at over 170,000, is likely far higher.

The US-backed plan proposes a complex framework, including a confirmation of Ukraine’s sovereignty alongside a comprehensive non-aggression agreement. It also addresses NATO expansion, suggesting a future ban on Ukraine’s membership and a cap on its military size. A key, and contentious, element involves recognizing Crimea, Luhansk, and Donetsk as Russian territory.

Further stipulations include a freeze on conflict lines in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, the establishment of a demilitarized zone, and a commitment to prisoner exchanges and humanitarian aid. A ceasefire, contingent on mutual withdrawal, would be overseen by a peace council, with Trump suggesting he would lead it.

The path to peace remains fraught with challenges, balancing the need for a resolution with the imperative of upholding Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. The coming days will be critical in determining whether a lasting agreement can be reached, or if the conflict will continue to claim lives and reshape the geopolitical landscape.
