A series of shootings across Toronto on July 10‑12 resulted in 12 victims, including three fatalities, marking a grim milestone in the city’s crime history.
The incidents occurred in North York, the west end, and the Portlands. The first shooting on Friday night took place at Sheppard Ave. and Jane St. W., where a 22‑year‑old was killed and two others wounded.
Saturday saw two separate public shootings. The first, at a cancelled festival on St. Clair and Arlington Avenues, left six people shot, including two deaths. Hours later, a nightclub on Poulson Street recorded three wounded and five arrests.

Police charged a 25‑year‑old man in the nightclub incident with multiple offenses, including reckless discharge of a firearm and dangerous operation of a vehicle. Investigations continue for all three events.
City officials expressed alarm, calling the weekend a tipping point that demands decisive action. The deputy mayor urged stronger measures to curb violent crime and protect community events.
Officials criticized the normalization of gun violence and called for tougher court penalties for offenders, especially those released on conditions. They emphasized the need for a systemic rethink of policing and judicial responses.

The shootings have drawn national attention and sparked debate over Toronto’s safety and the effectiveness of current law‑enforcement strategies.
