Dusty photographs, relics of a bygone era, are now whispering secrets about the skies above. A recent discovery at the Palomar Observatory suggests a hidden connection between unexplained aerial phenomena and the dawn of the nuclear age.
Scientists meticulously examined astronomical plates – fragile glass negatives capturing the night sky – dating back to 1949-1957. These images, created before humanity even launched its first satellite, revealed a startling number of fleeting, star-like flashes.
Over 107,000 transient lights were identified using automated technology. While many proved to be imperfections on the plates themselves, a significant number coincided with documented UFO sightings and, crucially, nuclear weapons tests.
The timing is particularly striking. During a period of intense UAP reports over Washington D.C. in July 1952, multiple bright transients illuminated the night sky, mirroring eyewitness accounts.
Researchers observed these unusual lights appearing over 124 above-ground nuclear testing sites active between 1951 and 1957. They theorize these flashes could be caused by high-energy particles interacting within the atmosphere.
However, the correlation is undeniable: transients were 45% more likely to be detected within 24 hours of a nuclear detonation. The frequency of UAP sightings demonstrably increased during these test windows.
