A shocking video surfaced online, revealing a Cinnabon employee in Wisconsin unleashing a torrent of racist abuse towards two customers. The incident, captured on TikTok, quickly ignited outrage and prompted swift action from the company.
The video depicts a white female employee directing a hateful, expletive-filled tirade at two individuals reportedly from Somalia. She brazenly used a deeply offensive racial slur, punctuated by defiant gestures and a chilling declaration of her own prejudice: “I am racist.”
The confrontation escalated after the customers requested additional caramel on their cinnamon roll. What began as a simple order quickly devolved into a hateful outburst, with the employee reportedly mocking one of the customer’s hijab, triggering the recording.
The employee’s rant demanded the customers leave, filled with vulgar language and aggressive hostility. The video spread rapidly, prompting widespread condemnation and calls for accountability.
Cinnabon responded swiftly, issuing a statement calling the video “disturbing” and unequivocally condemning the employee’s behavior. The company emphasized that such actions are entirely inconsistent with their values and the experience they strive to provide for all customers.
The franchise owner immediately terminated the employee’s employment. The company made it clear that her actions were not representative of the brand or its commitment to inclusivity and respect.
The customers, described as a Black Somali Muslim couple, have reportedly experienced significant trauma as a result of the incident. A fundraising campaign was launched to offer them support in the wake of this deeply upsetting encounter.
While support rallied for the victims, another campaign emerged attempting to raise funds for the fired employee. However, that effort was later removed from its platform, adding another layer of complexity to the unfolding situation.
