Aston Villa’s impressive season has ignited ambitions for further strengthening the squad, with manager Unai Emery pinpointing midfield as a key area for improvement in the coming year.
Despite already boasting a strong core of defensive midfielders – including Boubacar Kamara, Amadou Onana, and Youri Tielemans – Emery envisions adding another dynamic presence to control the center of the pitch.
His search has led him back to familiar territory: the intensely competitive world of Spanish football, where a rising star has captured his attention – Mikel Jauregizar of Athletic Club.
Jauregizar, a 22-year-old midfielder, has rapidly established himself as a pivotal figure for Athletic Club since his breakthrough in the 2023-24 season, playing alongside established talents like Nico Williams and Oihan Sancet.
