BROWN UNIVERSITY NIGHTMARE: Gunman ID'd, DEAD After Campus Terror!

A shadow fell over Brown University this past Saturday, shattering the quiet intensity of finals week. Two students lost their lives, and nine others were wounded during a study session, leaving the campus and surrounding community reeling in disbelief.

The FBI has identified the suspect as Claudio Manuel Neves-Valente. For days, authorities pursued leads, a tense search unfolding as students were sent home and a community held its breath, desperate for answers.

The shooting occurred around 4 p.m. within the Barus and Holley Building, a space normally filled with the focused energy of students preparing for their futures. That afternoon, it became a scene of unimaginable chaos and heartbreak.

Initial investigations focused on a person of interest questioned at a local hotel, but they were later cleared. The search then shifted to a more detailed examination of surveillance footage, a painstaking effort to piece together the events of that day.

Detectives honed in on a masked individual captured on camera – a stocky figure, approximately 5’8”, with a distinctive and unusual walk. Body language expert Susan Constantine noted a key characteristic: a pronounced inward bow of the right leg and an outward pointing toe.

Investigators released images of this person, along with a second individual they believed might possess crucial information, appealing to the public for assistance in identifying both.

Tragically, Claudio Manuel Neves-Valente was found deceased Thursday evening in Salem, New Hampshire, following an hours-long standoff outside a storage unit linked to him. The discovery brought a somber end to the intensive manhunt.

The victims have been identified as Ella Cook, a student from Alabama, and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, from Virginia. Six of the injured remain hospitalized, thankfully listed in stable condition as of Thursday afternoon.

The days following the shooting were marked by anxiety and uncertainty for the community. Residents lived on edge, grappling with the sudden eruption of violence at a place synonymous with learning and growth.

The investigation continues, seeking to understand the motives behind this devastating act and to provide a measure of closure to a community deeply wounded by loss and fear.
