CRIME SCENE: Man on probation charged with father's murder, York cops say

A 30-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of his father in East Gwillimbury.

York Regional Police said on Friday at 11:24 p.m., officers responded to reports of an assault in progress at a residence on Queensville Side Rd. E., east of Yonge Street.

Upon arrival, officers found a man, 57 — later identified as Kurl Burry, of Bowmanville — suffering from serious injuries. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

A suspect was arrested at the scene. Jeantel Burry-Burgess, 30, of no fixed address, was charged with second-degree murder, two counts of breach of probation and one count of assault – choking.

At the time of this incident, Burry-Burgess was on probation for unrelated offences.

AMBULANCE FIRE IN HAMILTON

Hamilton Police have made an arrest after an ambulance was set on fire early Sunday morning.

Cops said that around 6 a.m., EMS staff arrived at the Hamilton General Hospital and had just offloaded a patient and upon returning found their ambulance engulfed in flames.

Police say using CCTV camera footage and eye-witness accounts, it was learned that a lone suspect had tossed an accelerant into the ambulance and departed on foot.

The suspect, a 31-year-old male of no fixed address, was found at a bus stop nearby and charged with arson – disregard for human life and three counts of fail to comply probation order.

No injuries were reported as no one was inside the ambulance at the time that the fire occurred.

MAN CHARGED IN BRAMPTON ROBBERY

Peel Regional Police have arrested and charged a man in connection with a bank robbery in Brampton on Thursday.

Cops say around12:40 p.m., the suspect entered a bank in the area of Main St. and Queen St. W and demanded cash from a customer service representative, which was provided.

The suspect was located nearby by authorities and police said a search warrant executed at his residence uncovered Canadian currency and other offence-related property.

Fabrizio Rosado, 27, of Brampton, has been charged with one count of robbery.
