Maine Man, 28, Charged with Brutal Murder After Alleged

Former Tory minister and Brexit Party MEP Ann Widdecombe, 78, was brutally murdered at her home in Haytor on Dartmoor on July 8th, suffering 'serious injuries' that led to her death.

The killer, later identified as 28-year-old Joshua Kerry, had been due to appear on a Channel 5 program via Zoom that afternoon, but failed to join the call after last making contact with the production team at 12:19 pm.

Police found that Kerry had driven his car to Widdecombe's home and rang the bell, before pushing his way into the property and bludgeoning the elderly woman to death.

Initially, local police alleged the murder was not politically motivated, but this claim was later disputed, with Reform UK party insisting that the attack may have been driven by Widdecombe's politics.

Neighbors have described Kerry as withdrawn and unremarkable in public life, but the discovery of newspaper clippings about Nigel Farage and Reform UK in his home contributed to counter-terrorism police becoming involved in the inquiry.

The UK's Counter-terrorism police took control of the investigation into Widdecombe's death after 'new information and evidence' came to light, treating the case as terrorism.

A 28-year-old man, later identified as Joshua Kerry, was arrested in connection with the murder and will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday morning.
