A 33-year-old man has been accused of a violent sexual assault against a woman in a Whitby park while he was under house arrest.
Durham Regional Police responded to Iroquois Beach Park, near Gordon Street and Waterfront Trail, after a woman was sexually assaulted around 10:15 p.m. on July 13.
Investigators said the victim was leaving the park and walking along a sand path toward Gordon Street when an unknown male forced her off the trail into a treeline.

Police allege the suspect made threats and sexually assaulted the woman during the encounter.
Following an extensive investigation by the Special Victims Unit and tips from the public, the suspect was identified and taken into custody without incident on Thursday.
Authorities confirmed the accused was bound by house arrest curfew conditions at the time of the incident, though the reason for those conditions was not disclosed.
Dwayne Horace Daley, 33, of Ajax, faces charges including sexual assault, uttering threats, robbery, and four counts of failing to comply with a release order.
He was held for a bail hearing.
Investigators are requesting cellphone, dashcam, or surveillance footage and urge anyone with information to contact the Special Victims Unit or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
