A statue of late commentator Charlie Kirk is set to be unveiled in Times Square, but concerns have been raised that it may be vandalized.
The founder of Turning Point USA was an outspoken advocate for various causes, including opposing trans rights, supporting gun control, and promoting religion. He was fatally shot in September 2025 while speaking at Utah Valley University.
Pro-Trump artist Sergio Furnari has shared videos of the statue he created in Kirk's honor, but the reaction has been mixed. Some have questioned the need for the statue, labeling Kirk as "just a podcaster," while others have expressed concerns about its placement in public.

Furnari is crowdfunding the statue, but has only raised about $1,500 of his $150,000 goal. He argues that the lack of support from politicians has led to the need for public funding, stating that "we the people can erect this eternal masterpiece." Donors will have their names engraved on the platform, making a lasting contribution to the monument.
The trial of Kirk's alleged shooter, Tyler Robinson, began last week. Robinson, 23, is charged with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, obstructing justice, and witness tampering. Prosecutors are pushing for the death penalty, but Robinson's attorneys have asked for it to be taken off the table.
Erika Kirk, the widow of the late commentator, attended the trial surrounded by security guards. She has previously stated that she forgives her husband's shooter, a decision that has sparked controversy. The trial is ongoing, with no date set for a verdict.
