Two U.S. service members were killed in action in Jordan during attacks on a U.S. base, military officials confirmed Saturday.
The incident occurred on July 17 as U.S. and partner forces defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks.
One service member remains missing following the assault, according to a statement from U.S. Central Command.
Four American personnel were medically evacuated to Jordanian hospitals but have since been discharged. Others evaluated for minor injuries have returned to duty.
Officials said additional details, including the identities of the deceased, will be withheld for 24 hours after next of kin are notified.
