On Sunday, a 31‑year‑old swimmer was attacked by an alligator in the Econlockhatchee River in Seminole County, Florida, resulting in a fatal injury.
During the emergency, the victim’s boyfriend, Chance Allison, called 911 and pleaded for assistance while describing the severe blood loss and the loss of an arm.
The boyfriend fought to free her from the animal’s jaws before the call was placed, and an audio recording captured his frantic attempts to secure medical help.

A friend present at the scene relayed that one arm had been completely severed and the other was barely attached, adding that the victim remained conscious but in extreme distress.
Paramedics arrived approximately twelve minutes after the call, a period described by witnesses as an eternity of waiting.
Despite the rapid response, the victim died en route to the nearest hospital.

Officials noted that the attack occurred while the victim was swimming in shallow water and that no provocation was evident.
Two alligators found nearby, measuring 13 feet and 12.5 feet, were captured and euthanized as part of the investigation.
Samples from the animals are being examined, and the investigation into the incident remains active.

A fundraiser was launched by the victim’s aunt to cover the cost of transporting her remains back to California, with funds already raised exceeding the initial goal.
