A retired math professor has been charged after allegedly killing his wife, an airline meteorologist, in their home in Fair Oaks, Virginia.
Police officers responded to the scene and found 60-year-old Chisen Jameson suffering from gunshot wounds, after she had called 911 before the shooting.
The sounds of gunfire were audible in the background of the 911 call, officials reported.
64-year-old Leland Jameson, a former professor at George Mason University, was charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Leland Jameson, who holds a Ph.D. from Brown University, placed his own call to 911, reporting a domestic dispute with his wife and stating that he did not know how badly she was hurt.
Multiple firearms were found inside the home, officials said.
Chisen Jameson was a valued member of the team at Japan's All Nippon Airways, where she worked as a meteorologist at Dulles Airport.
The airline expressed its heartbreak over her loss, stating that she was a cherished colleague whose passing had a profound impact on everyone who knew and worked with her.
The couple has two grown sons, both of whom live in Northern Virginia.
