A healthcare worker in Virginia lost her job after a series of disturbing videos surfaced online, detailing methods to inflict harm upon ICE agents. The videos, initially posted on a now-deleted TikTok account, quickly spread across social media, igniting widespread outrage and prompting immediate action from her employer.
The hospital, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Health, confirmed the individual was no longer employed by the institution following a thorough investigation. They also stated they had fulfilled all necessary reporting obligations to the state of Virginia, emphasizing the seriousness with which they viewed the situation.
The videos showcased a chilling escalation of rhetoric, moving beyond protest to explicit suggestions of sabotage and physical harm. In one particularly alarming clip, the nurse advocated for the use of syringes filled with potentially paralyzing substances as a “deterrent” against those she opposed.
Another video detailed a plan to weaponize poison ivy, instructing viewers to create a solution and deploy it via water guns, specifically targeting faces and hands. The casual tone and direct instructions were deeply unsettling, raising immediate safety concerns.
Perhaps most disturbingly, the nurse encouraged single women to target ICE agents on dating apps, suggesting they spike their drinks with laxatives to incapacitate them. She framed this as a low-risk, easily deniable act of resistance, aiming to disrupt their work and “make their lives miserable.”
The videos didn’t stop at direct attacks. She also urged viewers to identify and disrupt the daily routines of ICE agents, targeting their food sources and lodging, seeking to create widespread discomfort and opposition.
The rapid spread of the videos, amplified by accounts like LibsOfTikTok, forced VCU Health and VCU Police to launch a joint investigation. The employee was immediately placed on administrative leave, barred from hospital facilities and patient interaction, pending the outcome of the inquiry.
The case highlights a troubling trend of escalating rhetoric and the potential for online content to incite real-world harm. It underscores the responsibility of social media platforms and the need for swift action when faced with threats of violence and dangerous instructions.
The nurse’s actions represent a severe breach of professional ethics and a blatant disregard for the safety and well-being of others. Her termination serves as a stark reminder that inciting violence, even under the guise of political resistance, carries serious consequences.
