GO TRAIN DEATH PLUNGE WARNING: You Won't Believe What They're Saying!

A chilling video circulating online has prompted a stark warning from the head of a major transit agency: never attempt to board a moving train. The incident, captured on January 21st, shows a commuter making a desperate, and incredibly dangerous, leap onto the steps of a departing train.

The footage reveals a person sprinting across a station platform, timing their run to coincide with a train pulling away. They managed to grab onto the train’s exterior as it began to accelerate, clinging precariously to the doorway.

Fortunately, the train crew quickly realized what was happening and brought it to a stop within seconds. While no injuries were reported, the situation highlighted a terrifyingly common impulse – the urge to risk everything to avoid a missed connection.

Michael Lindsay is CEO of Metrolinx.

The agency’s CEO acknowledged the frustration of missing a train, recalling the feeling of racing to the platform only to watch it depart. However, he emphasized that no appointment or obligation is worth jeopardizing personal safety or the safety of others.

The sudden braking required to address the situation created a potential hazard for everyone on board. The CEO urged commuters to remain vigilant, heed the instructions of transit staff, and immediately report any unsafe behavior they witness.

Transit authorities routinely close train doors one minute before the scheduled departure time, a measure designed to ensure safe and efficient operation. This policy underscores the importance of planning ahead and allowing sufficient time for travel.

This incident echoes a similar event from June, where a train operator confronted a passenger who deliberately held open a closing door with their bicycle. The operator’s frustration was audible, as the passenger’s actions threatened to delay the entire train.

Transit officials consistently advise against attempting to board trains as the doors are closing, citing the risk of injury and the potential for widespread delays. Waiting for the next scheduled train is always the safest course of action.

The message is clear: a missed train is an inconvenience, but a reckless attempt to catch it can have devastating consequences. Prioritizing safety and following established procedures are paramount for all commuters.
