RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Ginger Johnson is stepping off the runway and into the kitchen in search of a new title on Celebrity MasterChef.
The winner of Drag Race UK season five was announced in the cast of the new series of Celebrity MasterChef on 17 October. The 20th series of the show will also be welcoming Alfie Boe, Dawn O’Porter, and Chris Hughes among others.
The new series, judged by Grace Dent and John Torode, will see how long the celebrities can withstand the heat of the kitchen in the hopes of making it all to way to be named the Celebrity MasterChef 2025 Champion.
Posting about the news on Instagram, Johnson wrote: “Anyone for a sausage surprise? Well here you have it! I’m heading into the iconic Masterchef kitchen for the brand new celebrity series.”
She added: “You know what they say about kitchens – if you can’t stand the heat… you probably shouldn’t have worn 4 pairs of tights and a big hairy hat.”
Johnson claimed the crown and title of The UK’s Next Drag Superstar towards the end of 2023. It was a verdict that was agreed upon by most of the Drag Race fandom, a rarity these days, and came after an “incredible” season.

Asked last year about the possibility of returning to Drag Race for an All Stars All Winners season Johnson teased, “if RuPaul calls you up, I don’t think you say ‘no’.”
The inclusion of Chris Hughes in the 2025 Celebrity MasterChef cast is also likely to draw some attention given his relationship with “Karma” singer, JoJo Siwa. The pair met while on Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year and have engaged in a whirlwind romance ever since, with marriage and children having already been hinted at.
