A 24-year-old woman died after an alleged attack in her home in Hayes, west London, on the morning of July 12.
Her brother said the family learned of her death only on Friday and expressed shock, stating they did not know what they could do.
The family has no one able to bring her body back to their village in Punjab, and a community fund has been established to support funeral arrangements and repatriation to India.

By Friday night, the fund had collected more than £34,600.
Before the attack, a 46-year-old man allegedly walked through a local playing field dressed in black and carrying a large knife.
He was recorded on cameras approaching three addresses and is accused of stabbing a man in his 20s in the back on the street.

Minutes later, at around 7.51am, the suspect is said to have kicked in the door of the woman’s home, where she lived with her husband and three-month-old baby.
The husband awoke to his wife’s scream and saw a figure leave the bedroom, according to court proceedings at the Old Bailey.
The suspect left the property two minutes later by jumping from a window, breaking both ankles, and collapsed after attempting to flee roughly 10 metres.
Both victims were strangers to the defendant, who was treated in hospital before being taken into custody.
He was charged with murder, attempted murder, and possession of a blade.
A plea hearing was set for October 1, with a provisional three-week trial beginning April 5, and the defendant was remanded into custody.
