The family of the deceased boy described him as a fun, bright, handsome, athletic, and well-liked child. They said he cherished time with friends and family and that his death has left a permanent void in their lives.

A detective sergeant from the serious collision investigation unit said the boy was only 13 with his whole life ahead of him. The two surviving boys will live with the physical and emotional impact of the crash for the rest of their lives.

Investigators stated that the families continue to receive support from trained officers and asked for privacy. The driver is scheduled to be sentenced on September 25.
