Lonely lefty ladies loving alleged homicidal heartthrob Luigi Mangione might be in for a big disappointment.
According to The New York Times, the 27-year-old was once beaten by a gang of “ladyboys” during a wild night out in southeast Asia hotspot Thailand.
The Times reports that Mangione, who faces the death penalty for the brazen assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on a Manhattan street, boasted about his adventures on WhatsApp.
Backpacked around Asia
In the months before the murder, Mangione was traipsing around Asia with a backpack and enjoying the wild nightlife. He eventually returned to the U.S. in July 2024 and allegedly murdered Thompson in December.
The Times said that in one message, Mangione boasted that he had been beaten up by seven “ladyboys.” The term is used for transgender women in Thailand. He said the incident occurred in Bangkok.
Mangione shared a photo of his scratched and banged-up arm.

He apparently left on a solo trip in early 2024. During the trip, the Ivy League-educated rich kid befriended soccer player Christian Sacchini and another unidentified companion.
Sacchini said he met Mangione in a Bangkok watering hole. Initially, the two men talked about video games and Pokemon. But then the conversation took a dark turn with Mangione ranting and raving about the “effed up” U.S. health-care system.
“He couldn’t believe it,” Sacchini said of Mangione’s shock at the low cost of an MRI in Thailand.
Isolated himself as trek progressed
Later, the alleged killer moved on to the mountains of Japan in a quest for a slower pace and a place to “meditate” and write. The Times said over the course of his trek, he went from “craving human connection” to isolating himself.
At the time, he allegedly obsessed over how he could make a dramatic statement about the injustice of American health coverage.
“He didn’t use any digital devices,” said Juntaro Mihara, owner of a small guesthouse where Mangione stayed. “He was quiet, and only had the minimum necessary conversations with other guests or maybe didn’t talk with anyone.”
Mangione went off the grid upon his return to the U.S., ghosting friends and family, the Times said. But in a lone August 2024 diary entry, Mangione wrote he was sleeping poorly and feeling “foggy.”
“I finally feel confident about what I’ll do,” he wrote, the Times reported.
“The details are finally coming together. And I don’t feel any doubt about whether it’s right/justified. I’m glad — in a way — that I’ve procrastinated, bc it allowed me to learn more about UHC. The target is insurance. It checks every box.”

He has pleaded not guilty to federal and state charges for allegedly shooting Thompson, 50, in cold blood outside the insurance giant’s annual investor conference on Dec. 4, 2024. Mangione was later nabbed at a Pennsylvania McDonald’s after a five-day manhunt.
On shell casings found at the murder scene were written the words: “delay,” “deny,” and “depose.”
When photos of Mangione were released following his arrest, he garnered a big following of cult-like fan girls cheering his alleged sick actions.
No trial date has been set. If convicted, he faces the death penalty.
