Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has indicated the club may pursue a winger with a different skill set to replace Mohamed Salah this summer.
Salah’s departure from Anfield will follow the conclusion of the 2025/26 campaign, ending a tenure that established him as one of the club’s finest players and a Premier League great.
The Egypt international scored 257 goals in 442 appearances, helping Liverpool secure two league titles, the Champions League, and other major honours.

Replacing a once-in-a-generation talent of that stature presents a considerable challenge for the club.
Iraola acknowledged the difficulty, suggesting Liverpool require a player in that position who brings complementary attributes rather than a direct replica of Salah’s profile.
The manager confirmed the club is actively working on identifying a winger who can strengthen the squad in a different way.

Current speculation links Liverpool with Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola as a wide attacking target.
The France international has impressed at his current club but may seek a move for more regular first-team football.
Barcola would not be a like-for-like successor to Salah but could support Iraola’s rebuilding of Liverpool’s attack for next season.
