A wave of uncertainty has shifted in the investigation surrounding the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. A man previously considered a person of interest, captured on video near her home, has now been cleared by investigators.
The focus intensified after new surveillance footage surfaced, showing a man with a backpack attempting to enter a locked gate just five miles from Guthrie’s residence. This occurred at 1:52 AM, a mere minutes before Guthrie’s Nest camera went offline at 1:47 AM and a masked figure was detected on her property at 2:12 AM.
Authorities quickly identified the backpack as a Walmart Ozark Trail Hiker, the same type worn by the individual seen approaching Guthrie’s door in the chilling porch footage. The timing of the new video sparked immediate interest, prompting the FBI to seek an interview with the man.
Investigators meticulously analyzed the timeline. The man with the backpack left the gate area at 1:53 AM. If he were the perpetrator, he would have had approximately nineteen minutes to travel the five miles, don a disguise, and reach Guthrie’s home.
