Festus Bizimana, Rwanda’s appointed Ambassador to Guinea-Bissau, presented his credentials to Umaro Sissoco Embaló, President of the Republic of the West African country on Wednesday, October 22.
During the ceremony, Bizimana conveyed a message from President Paul Kagame, reaffirming Rwanda's commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Bizimana highlighted the growing collaboration between the two states in various sectors, with particular emphasis on strengthening and implementing bilateral cooperation agreements already signed, including the visa exemption agreement and the memorandum of understanding on tourism.
Presdent Embaló expressed his satisfaction with the strong and friendly relations between the two countries. He wished Ambassador Bizimana every success in his mission.
The Rwandan Ambassador to Guinea-Bissau, based in Dakar, Senegal, has jurisdiction over four other African countries: The Gambia, Mali, Cape Verde, and Senegal.
Guinea-Bissau is located on the west coast of Africa, bordered by Senegal to the north, Guinea-Conakry to the east and south-east, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west, where its 80 small islands, known as the Bijagos Archipelago, are located.
It has a population of 2.2 million and its economy largely depends on fishing, especially in the Guinea Gulf, and agriculture, with the main crops being rice, peanuts and cashews.
