Former CIA Director John Brennan sharply criticized President Trump following the president’s primetime address on foreign election interference.
Brennan, who led the CIA from 2013 to 2017, accused Trump of selectively “cherry-picked” information, applying “careful redactions,” and misrepresenting facts.
During Thursday’s address, Trump outlined claims regarding foreign interference in U.S. elections.

The president stated that the Department of Homeland Security identified roughly 278,000 non-citizens on voter rolls.
Trump also claimed China accessed 220 million U.S. voter files and that prior administrations withheld this information from him.
According to the address, China targeted Trump in the 2020 election by paying media outlets to publish negative coverage.
Brennan’s comments arrive as he is currently under federal investigation.
Critics have noted that Brennan and other officials from the prior administration were themselves accused of using selective leaks and redactions during efforts tied to Trump.
