A night of tragedy unfolded in Hamilton’s west end, leaving one person dead and two others injured, one critically. The collision, a devastating two-vehicle impact, occurred on Wilson Street near Highway 403, casting a somber shadow over the Ancaster community.
Emergency services responded to the scene at approximately 7:30 p.m., finding a scene of twisted metal and shattered glass. Despite their best efforts, one individual was pronounced deceased at the scene, a life extinguished far too soon. Two others were rushed to hospital, their conditions ranging from critical to stable.
Authorities are withholding the identities of those involved, extending a measure of respect to the grieving families during this incredibly difficult time. The investigation is ongoing, with patrol officers and the collision reconstruction team meticulously gathering evidence.
This incident marks the second serious collision in the same area in just three months. In November, a 42-year-old woman was struck by a pickup truck on Wilson-McClure Road, succumbing to her injuries in hospital days later. The proximity of these tragedies has raised concerns within the community.
Meanwhile, a separate incident is under investigation following a fatal collision on York Boulevard near the Burlington city limits. A 25-year-old man was struck and killed after an apparent interaction between two vehicles.
Police allege that after a brief exchange between drivers, one vehicle attempted to leave the scene, tragically striking the pedestrian. The driver fled but later contacted authorities. A 29-year-old Burlington man now faces charges including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and failure to stop after a collision.
Investigators are appealing to the public for assistance in both cases. Anyone who witnessed either collision, or has dashcam footage from the relevant areas, is urged to contact the Hamilton Police Mountain Division or the collision reconstruction unit.
