An Alabama mother has been charged with murder following the death of her two-year-old daughter, who was found bound and face-down on a bed after more than 12 hours.
Sierra Shay Hadaway, 22, was taken into custody after the Chambers County Sheriff's Office concluded its investigation into the June 12 death of Madilynn Hadaway in Lanett, Alabama.
Authorities say the toddler was discovered with her arms, legs, and ankles bound, and believe she died of asphyxiation. No further details on the cause or circumstances have been released.
A second suspect in the case, Christian Myles Sturkie, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on June 14. His relationship to the child remains unclear.
Although the child died in mid-June, the sheriff's office did not complete its investigation and arrest the mother until this week.
Hadaway is being held at the Chambers County Detention Facility without bond.
An obituary described Madilynn as a "precious angel" whose brief life was filled with love and happiness, noting she enjoyed playing with dolls and exploring outdoors.
