Mammoliti reportedly suffered a fall at his cottage, a sudden event that shocked those who knew him. He was surrounded by his family when he died, a comfort in the face of profound grief. A family statement described the immense void left by his passing.

Beyond his political career, Mammoliti was defined by his deep love for his family. He was a devoted father to Michael, Christopher, Nicole, and Isabella, and a proud Nonno to seven grandchildren: Colton, Riley, Violet, Logan, Willow, Domenico, and Milo. Each grandchild brought immense joy and pride into his life.

Those who knew him remember Mammoliti as a vibrant and engaging personality. He served as a Toronto city councillor for Ward 7 York West from 2000 to 2018, known for his unique and often entertaining approach to politics. Before that, he represented Yorkview as an NDP MPP from 1990 to 1995.

News of his death resonated throughout the political landscape, with colleagues recalling his humour, energy, and willingness to speak his mind. He was a dedicated champion for his community and a passionate advocate for causes he believed in, including the Toronto Zoo.

The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Colorectal Cancer Research and Action Network, supporting advancements in early cancer detection. This reflects Mammoliti’s commitment to making a difference, even in his absence.

Visitations will be held on Monday at DeMarco Funeral Homes’ Woodbridge Chapel, with services at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. A funeral service will follow on Tuesday at St. Jane Francis Roman Catholic Church at 11 a.m., offering a final opportunity to celebrate his life and remember his impact.
