RuPaul, the legendary host of RuPaul's Drag Race, has solidified his position as the most Emmy-nominated reality TV host of all time, with his 11th nomination.
Throughout his tenure as the host of RuPaul's Drag Race, RuPaul has taken home the award for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program nine out of the 11 times he's been nominated. He has consistently pushed the boundaries of entertainment and representation on television.
RuPaul received his first Primetime Emmy nomination in 2016 and went on to win every year until 2024, breaking his own record for the most consecutive nominations. The drag icon's winning streak was finally broken in 2024 when Alan Cumming took home the award for The Traitors US.
Cumming, a bisexual icon and fierce trans ally, won for his work on the celebrity competition show in 2025, marking a new chapter in the category. RuPaul and Cumming are joined by Kristen Kish of Top Chef, Jeff Probst of Survivor, and Ariana Madix for Love Island USA in the Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program category for the 2026 Emmy Awards.
Kish and Madix are both queer, making up 80 percent of this year's nominees in the category. RuPaul's Drag Race itself holds a whopping nine nominations for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, including recognition in the Reality Competition Program, Host, Contemporary Hairstyling, and Directing categories.
Companion series RuPaul's Drag Race: Untucked also received nominations for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program and Outstanding Picture Editing. The show's impact on popular culture and LGBTQ+ representation continues to be felt, and these nominations are a testament to its enduring influence.
