He provided alarming statistics, stating that between 1970 and 1980, 93% of terrorist attacks in the West came from the far extremist left.

The Secretary warned that this threat is not driven by idealism, but rather by a desire to impose ugliness on the world. He described the world envisioned by radical leftists as small, flat, gray, and leveled, devoid of courage, creativity, ambition, and heroes.
The Secretary also highlighted the destructive nature of this terrorism, citing examples of attacks on pipelines, railroads, power grids, and laboratories, symbolizing the destruction of power, invention, and achievement.
