Consistency is paying off for an Ontario man celebrating his second big lottery win. Paul Van Hoof, 80, of Strathroy revealed he “always” says yes to Encore when he plays his favourite game, a Lotto Max quick pick.
The win came when Van Hoof checked the winning numbers on his computer the morning after the June 5 Lotto Max draw and discovered he had won $100,000 by matching the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order.
Van Hoof was previously a winner in 2020 when he won a $1-million Encore prize in the add-on game. He matched all seven numbers in exact order and checked the winning numbers on his computer that morning as well.

Sharing the wealth, Van Hoof described his first win as “pure happiness” and said he couldn’t wait to watch his family “enjoy this together while we are still able to enjoy it.” He planned to treat himself to a new truck, invest in his grandchildren’s education and take the family on a cottage vacation.
Notably, Van Hoof purchased his latest winning ticket at the same store as his previous win in 2020. With his latest win, he said he plans to share his winnings with his grandchildren.
“I’m already retired and living my best life,” Van Hoof said while collecting his windfall at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. His wife and children were very excited for him, and he couldn’t wait to share the news.
