Horror movie, Weapons, terrified audiences in cinemas earlier this year and is now available to stream on Prime Video.
When the film was released this summer, viewers praised it as one of the wildest, most terrifying movies of 2025.
Weapons, written and directed by Barbarian filmmaker Zach Cregger, currently holds a 93% score on Rotten Tomatoes with hundreds of positive reviews from critics.
The film stars Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, Toby Huss, Benedict Wong and Amy Madigan, and focuses on the aftermath in a town called Maybrook when a classroom of children suddenly disappears.
One night at exactly 2:17 a.m., seventeen children – all from the same third-grade classroom – rise silently from their beds and vanish into the night. Only one child is left behind.
The disappearance shakes the town to its core, unleashing waves of grief, suspicion, and fear, particularly aimed at their teacher, Miss Gandy (Garner).
The story unfolds in a puzzle-like fashion, told in 15-minute chapters named after the different characters caught up in the mystery, including the class teacher, parents, school officials, and law enforcement.
The film was praised for storytelling, but also for the scare factor, which left many viewers unable to sleep after watching.
A review for MovieJawn read: ‘Through adept scriptwriting, well-directed performances, and thoughtful cinematography, there were a couple of scenes where I found myself tearing up, jumping with fear, and laughing with relief all at once, never feeling cheaply manipulated.’
Metro emphasised the fear factor in some of the scenes in a review of the film: ‘There is some excellent foreshadowing, good horror references, and a healthy inclusion of truly grotesque or fear-inducing moments that will have you really spooked.
‘Memorable scenes include using a potato peeler as a rather ruthless weapon, and a bloody head butt that is guaranteed to stay with you.’
BeyondTheTrialer said: ‘Deeply disturbing, but intentionally so. With some striking visuals & clever storytelling, Weapons will haunt you. Madigan becomes an instant horror icon while Ehrenreich & Abrams give the film a lot of humor and heart. Very good theater experience.’
Fans on Twitter were also left terrified.
