Local Family-Owned Business Thrives Amid Tragedy

Tyler Robinson's father, Matthew Robinson, returned to his daily routine just days after his son's preliminary hearing, where prosecutors presented a significant amount of evidence against him.

Matthew Robinson, who helped turn his son in to police after Tyler allegedly confessed to killing conservative icon Charlie Kirk, stood by his son's side throughout the court proceedings.

Utah taxpayers are now footing the bill for Tyler Robinson's defense, which experts estimate could surpass $10 million.

Matthew Robinson was seen commuting between his $600,000 home in southern Utah and his masonry business, which relies heavily on referrals and long-standing client relationships.

Despite his son's high-profile case, Matthew Robinson's business has continued to operate with minimal disruption, with most of his clients choosing to maintain their relationships with the company.

A colleague noted that Matthew Robinson rarely mentions his son, and a 2014 lawsuit against Matthew Robinson by his brother and business co-founder alleged that he embezzled $100,000 over two years and concealed financial records.

The lawsuit, which was eventually settled confidentially, also claimed that Matthew Robinson bartered work in exchange for personal favors.

The total cost of prosecuting Tyler Robinson has yet to be finalized, but his defense team has requested an additional $2 million in state funding, which could further increase the overall cost to $10 million.

During the preliminary hearing, prosecutors presented a recorded video interview with Lance Twiggs, Tyler Robinson's ex-roommate and lover, who stated that Tyler Robinson confessed to the killing in a text message exchange.

In the exchange, Robinson allegedly said, "I had hoped to keep this secret till I died of old age," and Twiggs replied, "You weren’t the one who did it right????" to which Robinson responded, "I am.
