French superstar Kylian Mbappe has expressed his confidence in Lionel Messi's ability to tie his record as the all-time top scorer in the World Cup final against Spain on Sunday.
Mbappe believes that Messi will score in the highly anticipated match, stating, 'Leo will score, that's for sure, he scores every time.'
The 24-year-old French forward has been on a mission to help his team, but he admits that being the all-time top scorer has brought him unwanted attention.

'I try to help my team score. It's true that when you score so many goals in the World Cup, it elevates you in certain areas, but I would have preferred not to be the all-time top scorer and to play in the match [the World Cup final],'
Mbappe currently holds the top spot with 10 goals and 4 assists, while Messi trails behind with 8 goals and 4 assists.
However, Mbappe's legacy is not on his mind ahead of the World Cup final, as he focuses on helping his team achieve victory.

'It's good for my legacy to be remembered as one of those players, but that's not what's on my mind right now.'
Mbappe's comments come after France's disappointing defeat to England in the bronze medal match, where they trailed 4-0 at halftime before mounting a comeback in the second half.
Despite the loss, Mbappe remains optimistic about his team's chances in the World Cup final, saying, 'I think there were two distinct periods. For the first, I can understand that some people think it was a joke and that we didn't respect the jersey.'

Mbappe went on to praise his coach, Didier Deschamps, saying, 'We didn't win, and that's a shame for the coach. We wanted to do something for him, and the first half gave the impression that we let him down, even if that wasn't the feeling we intended.'
