Texas Teens Arrested in Connection to Dallas-Area 18-Year-Old's

The Erving family continues to call for justice after the arrest of two individuals in connection with the death of Daniel Erving, a 17-year-old high school student. The family has retained an independent investigative team to examine the circumstances surrounding Daniel's death, with the team questioning whether the available evidence is consistent with an accidental drowning.

Family attorney Daredia has raised several concerns, including why the clothes Daniel was wearing when he died were hidden, why the scene was fled, and why Daniel's cell phone was tossed out of the car. He has urged the Dallas County District Attorney's Office to present the case to a grand jury and pursue homicide charges if the evidence supports them.

Erving's mother, Tameca Erving, has also spoken out about the case, questioning why anyone would dispose of her son's belongings if his death had truly been an accident. She argues that a reasonable person would not throw away clothes and delete messages if they were not guilty of a crime. Tameca Erving urges anyone with information about what happened at Lake Ray Hubbard to come forward.

Erving's sister, Mackenzie Erving, remembers her brother as a "law-abiding" young man with dreams of serving in the military. She believes that someone should be held accountable for Daniel's death, as he was a person who would have rendered aid in a life-or-death situation.

The National Guard Association of Texas has also weighed in on the case, with President Dominique Alexander calling the arrests a "significant step" but arguing that the investigation should continue wherever the evidence leads. Alexander urges the Dallas County District Attorney's Office to follow the evidence and pursue additional charges if supported by the evidence.

The Erving family has criticized the delay in arrests, with the family and NGAN questioning why so much time allegedly passed before law enforcement was notified after Daniel disappeared and why no one immediately returned to notify his family that an emergency had occurred.

The Rowlett Police Department initially investigated Daniel's disappearance after he went missing on April 13, before transferring the death investigation to the Dallas Police Department due to jurisdictional reasons. The department has stated that it will continue to provide support throughout the investigation, but cannot release additional information to avoid compromising the integrity of the process.
