App Builders PH, launched by software developer Bryl A. Lim, aims to increase visibility for Filipino app creators amid rising use of AI in software development.
The platform emerged in response to a surge in mobile and web applications developed by Filipinos. Lim envisioned a community where developers could share ideas, support each other, and gain exposure.
It began as a Facebook group in May, following the rapid growth of Lim's personal finance app, Tarsi, which achieved significant revenue within a month and inspired others.
Recognizing that social media posts are often buried, Lim expanded the community into a dedicated website where developers can list and showcase their apps, improving discoverability.
Apps submitted undergo a screening process to ensure compliance with the community's code of ethics, requiring developers to certify originality and intellectual property ownership.
The platform adopts standards similar to major app marketplaces, banning apps that promote fraud, scams, or illegal activities.
Users can comment on and vote for listed apps, allowing popular titles to rank higher. Randomly selected apps are also highlighted on the homepage to boost exposure.
Beyond app listings, the site hosts a job board connecting developers with designers, programmers, and other tech professionals. The initiative is community-driven.
Advancements in AI-powered development tools have accelerated software creation worldwide, contributing to a 60% year-over-year increase in app releases in the first quarter and a doubling of global releases in April.
Since launching its website on July 2, App Builders PH has accumulated more than 500 app listings and over 2,000 registered users. Its Facebook community now exceeds 20,000 members, with a goal of reaching 100,000 by year-end.
