U.S. Central Command confirmed the completion of an eighth consecutive night of strikes against Iran, following the deaths of two American servicemembers in Iranian airstrikes in Jordan.
The latest operation took place on July 18 at 11:30 p.m. ET, under the direction of the Commander in Chief.
During the five-and-a-half-hour mission, U.S. forces struck Iranian coastal surveillance and air defense facilities, maritime capabilities, and missile and drone storage sites.
American assets also targeted Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps units responsible for attacks on U.S. personnel in Jordan on July 17.
Military officials stated the strikes are intended to degrade Iranian military capabilities and respond to threats against American forces.
More than 50,000 U.S. personnel are currently deployed across the Middle East, maintaining a state of high readiness.
The U.S. State Department issued a worldwide travel caution on Saturday, citing a complex security environment and potential for unforeseen escalation.
Officials warned that U.S. interests abroad could be targeted as hostilities continue.
The President has indicated willingness to expand military action, including potential strikes on Iran’s energy, oil, and transportation infrastructure.
He has not ruled out a ground invasion and has referenced the possibility of seizing Iran’s Kharg Island oil export hub.
