Luna Signals Release of Explosive Declassified Government Files

Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) has issued a warning that forthcoming declassified records will reveal a former member of Congress placed foreign government agents in congressional offices as interns.

Luna stated that the files, expected within weeks, document how intelligence operatives were embedded in Capitol Hill offices under the cover of internship programs.

She urged immediate consideration of legislation introduced by Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL) that would mandate background checks for congressional staff.

Cammack later identified Qatar as the foreign government at the center of the placement scheme involving individuals disguised as interns.

Qatar has previously hosted Hamas leadership, funded the Muslim Brotherhood, and directed financial influence operations at American universities.

The disclosed arrangement operated with little oversight inside Congress, where staff and interns are not currently required to undergo background checks.

Cammack confirmed that no background check requirement exists for congressional staff handling sensitive material.

House Resolution 500, introduced by Cammack in June 2025, would require U.S. Capitol Police to conduct criminal background checks on all House employees.

The resolution also mandates full disclosure of dual citizenship and any employment or financial ties to foreign nations.

Cammack has stated that leadership was informed of the security vulnerability last year but has not advanced the measure for a vote.
