Senator Ed Markey from Massachusetts has called for the impeachment of President Trump over a speech given this week about election integrity and interference from hostile actors.
The impeachment call comes after President Trump claimed during a primetime address that forces that stole the 2020 presidential election are still at work and threaten the integrity of the 2026 midterm elections.
Trump used words such as “rigged and stolen,” “corrupt” and “cover-up” and cited some recently declassified documents to support his alarming claims, though critics in both parties say he still failed to substantiate his central contention that U.S. elections are marred by widespread fraud.

Markey has declared that President Trump must be impeached for undermining and subverting free and fair elections.
In his call to action, Markey also urged citizens to take to the streets, sit in, protest, and withhold their labor if ICE agents are sent to the polls.
Markey's call for impeachment has been seen by many as a move to appease the far left of his party, particularly in the context of his own reelection campaign.
Markey is facing a challenge from Rep. Seth Moulton and is seen by some as trying to appeal to the radical base of his party.
Markey's actions have been compared to those of his counterpart Elizabeth Warren, with some accusing him of prioritizing the interests of the radical left over those of the state of Massachusetts.
