The York Regional Police Homicide Unit has taken a major step in seeking justice for a 16-year-old victim, after apprehending a 27-year-old woman in Calgary who was sought for the deadly stabbing of an alleged auto theft ring associate nearly two years ago in Richmond Hill.
The victim, a 16-year-old boy from Montreal, died after showing up at a hospital with a stab wound on August 8, 2024. Investigators later revealed that the boy had been involved in a vehicle theft on Kersey Cr. – near Yonge St. and Major Mackenzie Dr. W. — around 4:45 that morning.
While it was unknown where the stabbing occurred, the stolen vehicle was recovered later that morning in a parking lot near Weston Rd. and Sheppard Ave. W. in North York.

Three men were identified as suspects in the auto theft, including Isaiah Mentor Lorguste, 19, of Montreal, and Lensly Francois, 31, of Saint-Hubert, Que., who were arrested and charged. William Gallant, 26, of Quebec City, Que., is still wanted.
The woman, Katherine Bergeron-Pinzarrone, of Mississauga, was listed on the Top 25 Most Wanted list of fugitives sought for crimes in Canada last fall and was sought on a Canada-Wide warrant for the homicide.
Police say Bergeron-Pinzarrone was taken into custody on July 9 in Calgary, Alta., in a collaborative effort between the York Regional Police Homicide Unit, the BOLO Program, and the Calgary Police Service. She is now charged with second-degree murder.

The BOLO Program, an initiative leveraging social media, technology, and innovative engagement to encourage citizens to be on the lookout for Canada’s most wanted, praised the arrest, saying it marks an important step in making communities safer.
