Senator John Fetterman warned that the Democratic Party’s ongoing rhetoric on Israel could further alienate him from the party and potentially prompt a shift across the aisle.
He described the party’s stance as increasingly anti‑Israel and said that formalizing such a position in the platform would cross a red line for him.
Fetterman also criticized party leaders for supporting former Maine Senate nominee Graham Platner, who withdrew after multiple sexual‑assault allegations.
He said the backing of Platner “just made that much more difficult” and highlighted the controversy surrounding the candidate.
Platner, a military veteran, displayed a Totenkopf tattoo—a symbol associated with the Nazis—and later claimed he was unaware of its meaning, asserting he was not a secret Nazi.
Political commentator Joe Concha suggested that Fetterman’s frustration could lead him to become an Independent, and possibly a Republican, before the upcoming midterm elections.
Concha noted that Fetterman’s comments reflect broader concerns about antisemitism within the Democratic Party.
